I wanted to take a moment and give an update and word of encouragement. This year has been turned upside down regarding the plans we all have had, and plans and goals I had for our church this year. It seems that this year is kind of a was it… or is it?
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
In this passage, God led Jeremiah to write a letter to the Jews who had been taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. The letter is encouraging them to trust God and His promises as He assures them that He will free them and return them in 70 years.
In the preceding verses, He tells them to:
- Work, 5
- Plant, 5
- Grow, 6
- Be content and Pray, 7
- Not be carried away, 8-9
- Trust God’s promises, 10-11
While they were in captivity, they could have decided to give up, give in, and think that this was the end. But God said that HE had an end for them, that wasn’t captivity.
I believe and trust that God has an expected end for us. He has a plan and purpose that we may not even know yet. But He is providentially working behind the scenes. So, let’s continuing working, planting seeds of the Gospel, growing in our faith and relationship with God, be content, or at peace, with our circumstances, and trusting God’s promises.
